Redeck Vancouver 34 with Kebony

All hands on deck!  The shipwrights have been very busy.  They  have just completed a 9 month major refit, which included a brand new deck, for Corrie Bay, a Vancouver 34.  Unusually the new deck has been laid in Kebonised maple, as a sustainable alternative to teak.

Kebony is based on a process where sustainable wood is made more durable, harder and more stable using liquids from biowaste material.

The owner wanted a green solution and was delighted when Weir Quay Boatyard said they could do the job in Kebony, a treatment which injects timber under pressure.   See Kebony website for more information on this splendid timber.

"We chose Weir Quay for our refit", said David, "because we liked the ethos of the place and were keen to explore an ecological alternative for our deck.  The decks and coach roof are looking fabulous. WQB has done a great job."
