Adam Hocking

Son and grandson of Cornish fishermen from Looe, Adam has the sea in his blood.  Following his training at the Lyme Regis Boat Building Centre, he has worked variously as fisherman, gardener and care worker and run his own business as a carpenter.

But he has always gravitated back to boats, working for Princess Yachts, Multimarine Composites, Western Marine Power, where he was responsible for the re-fit of a 50’ yacht, and at the innovative Ecocats, who developed solar-powered launches for the Thames River Authority.  This experience has brought him skills in GRP, Kevlar and vacuum technology, but his first love is wood.

In 2005-6, he took a year’s sabbatical from the rigours of the marine trades and worked as a support therapist in a home for special needs children.  He survived.

Adam was initially taken on to complete the re-fit and re-build of a Maurice Griffiths yacht, Quinta, but proved his worth quickly and agreed to join the WQB team full time.
